Navigating the world of social media and sustainability is no easy feat, but our Social Media Executive, Harli, does it with flair! She’s the creative force behind the engaging content you see on our channels, helping to spread the word about circular fashion and everything that Reskinned stands for. From capturing behind-the-scenes moments to sharing tips on how to keep your wardrobe circular, Harli is at the heart of Reskinned’s digital presence. We sat down with her to chat about her journey, her love for sustainable fashion, and what it’s like to bring the Reskinned story to life online.
My journey began studying Geography at Royal Holloway University, where I learned about the devastating environmental impacts of climate change. I’ve always loved fashion, but it wasn’t until then that I realised how much the industry contributes to the problem. That’s when I started shopping more consciously. After a digital marketing placement, I knew exactly what I wanted to do: promote sustainable fashion brands and help spread awareness.
Straight out of uni, I landed an internship with Hirestreet, a fashion rental company, which helped deepen my understanding of sustainability in the industry. After that I spent six months working in Turkey with the country’s largest fashion rental company, and I returned to London determined to stay in sustainable fashion. When I came across the Reskinned role, I was instantly drawn to the mission of keeping clothes in circulation. It’s been incredible seeing the process firsthand, and I’ve already learned so much in just under a year!
At first, transitioning into sustainable fashion was tough for me because it didn’t always match my style or budget, and not everything labelled “sustainable” was truly honest. Now, I get to help others on their sustainable fashion journey, showing them that it’s easier than they might think. It's especially rewarding to work with brands, encouraging them to think about end-of-life solutions for their clothing and really pushing to make a real difference in the fashion industry.
One of the best parts of my job is engaging with people who are discovering Reskinned for the first time, whether it’s through behind-the-scenes Instagram posts or seeing Lizzie's amazing repair work. Being part of a brand that’s committed to transparency and keeping clothes out of landfill is incredibly fulfilling, especially knowing we're helping people find sustainable solutions.
There’s really no “typical day” at Reskinned, which keeps things exciting! On content shoot days, I head to the warehouse where we receive all takebacks and make the magic happen. If we have a new drop, I’ll pick out some pre-loved pieces to showcase and take photos to share on our social channels. If one of our brand partners has requested some specific content for the drop, I’ll shoot that for them too! One of my favourite parts about going to the warehouse is seeing all of the action and creating engaging content that shows how we keep clothes in circulation or catching Lizzie doing a great repair. When I’m not at the warehouse, I’m in the office editing content, creating social assets, and coordinating with brands on content calendars and campaigns.
Not many people get to say they are in the exact role they wanted working for a business that aligns with their values - but I’m one of the lucky ones! Like any small business, things can get very busy very quickly, but I work with an incredible team that’s always ready to help. It’s amazing to be part of a group of like-minded people, all working toward the same goal.
Start small and build from there. First, reorganise your wardrobe. Keep the items you love and wear, and send the rest to us through our takeback scheme! When you're ready to add new items, try swapping clothes with friends — it’s a fun way to avoid impulse buys. Renting is also a great option for occasion wear.
For new pieces, always check secondhand platforms like Reskinned — you'll be surprised at what you can find! And if you prefer shopping in person, explore car boot sales, vintage shops, or charity stores. Be mindful of what you buy by asking yourself:
Harli’s creativity and passion for sustainable fashion shine through in everything she does, helping us connect with a growing community that cares about the future of fashion. It’s not just about the posts — it’s about inspiring real change!
