What can I do with old River Island clothes?

River Island's new takeback option, powered by Reskinned, sees the launch of in-person takeback options in over 200 participating stores across the UK. Just bring your preloved items to a participating store or send them directly to Reskinned. Visit the River Island takeback page, fill out the simple form and pop your items in the post.

How many River Island items can I send back?

To take part, you need a minimum of three items (you can return up to 10kg of clothing and we’ll put it to good use).

What River Island clothes can I send back?

Honestly, anything. We don’t care what condition it’s in. We’ll always make sure it doesn’t end up in landfill. Send us your River Island coats, shoes, clothes - you name it, we’ll take care of it. We’ll let you into a little secret…your clothes don’t just have to be River Island. We’ll accept ANY brand and any item through our collaboration. Yes, even your old underwear.

What happens to River Island clothes I send back?

Reskinned are committed to doing the right thing. We sort every item by hand and make a judgement on its condition. If it’s reached the end of the road , we will responsibly recycle it. If it needs repairing, we work with our in-house team to bring it back to life. Repaired and good quality clothes are ozone cleaned, photographed and rehomed.

What do I get in return for sending in my preloved River Island clothes?

When you send River Island clothes back, we will exchange them for a £5 gift voucher for you to redeem off a minimum £40 order at River Island stores or online. Takeback vouchers are valid for one month. You’ll receive this via email once your items have been processed.

Why have River Island partnered with Reskinned?

The River Island and Reskinned partnership is part of River Island’s The Kind Society programme. Launched last year, The Kind Society by River Island aims to help make fashion a force for good: sharing the brand’s journey and empowering customers to make more sustainable choices.

The latest activities are designed to help customers extend the life of their clothes, preventing once loved items ending up in landfill.

Reskinned is making it that much easier for customers to do the right thing with old clothes. Reskinned promise to reuse, repurpose or responsibly recycle (the only the very much past it items) as part of our 0% to landfill guarantee.
